GO VERNME N T EX PR A VAGANC E.
(To the Editor of the Tiiapelca Times.) Six, —it is amusing, yet withal sorrowful, to see how the Provincial Government spend the Provincial Revenue. A short time ago instructions were given to fence a paddock, I believe for the use of the Government horses in the neighbourhood. Now, sir, if economy was a rule to which they adhered, they certainly would build the fence to the best advantage, so as to enclose the largest acreage with the smallest amount of fencing. Apparently they have discarded this system, as the shape of thepaddock is exactly the counterfeit of the letter A. If such a shape embraces the largest area with the smallest amount of fencing, then, sir, I know nothing about it. I venture to affirm, that with an additional expenditure of some £15, double the quantity would be enclosed, and still have the same advantage of being fenced on the one side by thefence of Messrs. Herbert and Co. When will the Government learn sense and economy.— Yours, &c, Jack.
