SAVED BY A CHIGNON.
A young woman was ascending a staircase at the Birmingham public offices the other day when she accidentally fell over the banisters to the stone floor beneath. She fell on her head, and the much abused chignon proved in this instance most valuable. Some large black beads she wore round the chignon were smashed to pieces ; but, though stunned by the fall, she was not very materially hurt.
