(Before Wilson Gray, Esq.) Monday, Oct. 12. APPEALS AGAINST ASSESSMENT. There appeared to be only four objections' against the assessment of the valuator, those were the Bank of New Zealand, George Jeffery, Thomas Jeffries, and "William Tolcher. ' M!i\ Keen appeared for the Corporation, and objected to the appeals as being informal, the Act requiring that wiihin a certain time, of which due notice was .given, notices of appeal must be lodged with the Town Clerk as well as with the Clerk of Court. The Ordinance in no cass was complied with. His instructions were from tho Mayor to urge these objections, and he had no alternative. T,he Bench Temarked that lasfc year the Corporation waived their objections agairst the 'Same "irregularity, but if Mr. Keen urged his objection, he could ndt'do otherwise than declare the appWs yoid, as hoVas thero to adminisJ tef the law. •
