WAITAHUNA MEDICAL ASSOCIATION.

(To the Editor of the Tuapeka Times.) Sir, — In your issue of Saturday, 23rd inst. , there is a report of a meeting held in Waitahuna on May 15th, for the purpose of forming a new Medical Association, in which I am stated to have told the meeting that I was Secretary to the old Association. Now sir, I never made any such statement, having never filled that office in the old Association, and the gentleman who holds that appointment being present at the meeting it was impossible for me to have done so. Your informant must have strangely mistaken the object of the meeting when he talks about candidates ; the meeting was simply for the purpose of forming a Medical Association, employing Dr. Johnson, and had nothing whatever to do with Dr. M'Brearty or his supporters, and as to the feeling of the meeting being unmistakeably in favor of Dr. M'Brearty, T can only suppose that his ideas were in aa great a state of obf uscation with regard to that as they were to the other proceedings of the meeting, for the only opponents to the formation of a new Medical Association were some members of the Committee of the old Association, and I think two others. Such garbled reports of meetings are apt to lead the mind of the public astray with regard to the object they have in view.
