WAIPORI SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The usual monthly meeting *>f the School Committee was held in thd School House on the 13th instant. Present: — Mr. Buchanan (in the chair), Messrs. The building % Uich waa known as the Oddfellow's HoteK wa3 purchased by the present committee \^ a cd3t of £go and the sum of £125 has\ een expGnded ' by the committee in altering extending, and making the place suitaH^ &,r the uses of a school, and a comforta'^ dwelling for the schoolmaster. Tiie Coh m i tte ., raised by subscription from the resH ent g of this goldfield the sum of £60 7s. ' Ie government granted £100, and from othK. sources the sum of £18 Bs. 6d. was realised, making a total of £178 Bs. 6d; It was then resolved that the Secretary's; report b. adopted, after which the Chairman informed the meeting that the Committee's term of office had expired, and ii therefore became necessary to elect a new Committee ; for which purpose, he stated, a meeting Had been called by notice, Tht » meeting referred to would be held thai same evening, after the business of the ' retiring Committee was concluded. A most cordioi v^e of thanks, pro- , posed by Mr. Farrant and seconded by Air. Reynolds., was the.-* tendered to the 1 Chairman for the very able and efficient manner in which lie had conducted the Committee meetings, and for the great assistance he had given on all occassionE in furthering the welfare of the school. This resolution wa3 carried unanimously. . ,- The next uesolution was proposed bj Mr. Pillings, and seconded by Mr. Wilson -"That the Secretary, Mr. Cairns^, rei;?>><s L\ie ihitiks of the (Committee tw tue able assi3t-v.icc i'fe" h *iv--:3 ia tairying on the correspondiinco, and in 3l- ijcurately keeping the various school accounts •and faithfully recording the minutes oi thd Committee meetings." — Carried unanimously. The Chairman and Secretary having responded by returning their thanks, the Committee was declared dissolved. The public meeting referred to in the above proceedings, then took place", Mr. W. Farrant being elected Chairman ; but the notice calling the meeting not having beon doomed ouffieient, it wa3 proposed by Mr. Dunn, and seconded --" That the meeting be adjourned to Monday, the 17th instant, at eight o'clock ; and that sufficient notice be given by posting noti ces in various parts of the district." On being put, this motion was carried, and the meeting was adjourned till the day named above.
