MINESWEEPER WILL ARRIVE MONDAY, AFTER A PROTRACTED VOYAGE.
(Special to the “ Star.”)| AUCKLAND, January 15. After an exceptionally prolonged voyage from England, the minesweeper Whakakura will arrive at Auckland next Monday afternoon, according to a wireless report received by the local naval authorities. The vessel sailed from Portland, England, on June 14, and was delayed on the voyage by a succession of misfortunes. In the Atlantic engine trouble was experienced, and on the Pacific coast it was bad weather which caused delay. The worst mishap occurred when the vessel was en route from California. The engines broke down, and the Whakakura was picked up by the AmeTicaij.vwarship Pittsburg, which towed her to Honolulu. After repairs had been effected the voyage was resumed via Pagopago. The mine-sweeper is only a small craft, the crew numbering 22 all told.
