LINWOOD TOWN BOARD.

An adjourned ordinary meeting of the ahove Board was hell on Wedneaday evening last, at 7 p.m. ; present — Messrs Olephano, E. ioomer, H. U oomer, B. P. Glen (Ohairman), John Goodman, and B. J. Hale. Correspondence waa read :— From eeveral rate, payers, asking for time to pay their rates. Left to be dealt with by the Olerk. From J. W. Bastion and Dean Jacobs, re rates on property sold since the rate was struok. Besolved — " That theybe requested to pay forthwith." From the Drainage Board, stating that the Board has abandoned that part of Jaokson's Creek between Hereford and Tuam streets. From the Property Tax Commissioner, requesting that oertain properties omitted rrom the valuation roll may be inserted therein. From the Woolston Town Board, asking the name of the successful tenderer for the dog collars for 1884. To be replied to. The Finance Oommittee reported — Beoeipts for fortnight ending Dec. 15, £27 16s 61 ; oredit balanoe at bank, £35 ls 9d. Accounts amounting to £25 16s lOd were presented and passed for payment. The tender of Max sklaark, Bangiora, for dog collars for 1884, was accepted. The Olerk reported that Colonel Lean, agent for the Publio Trhßtee, wished to know if the Board would buy tho property where the Board's offioe is situated, aa the Publio Trustee was anxious to aell it. Besolved— "That Oolonel Lean be informed that the Board cannot buy the property at present." Besolved — "That a speoial meeting be held at the conolusion of the next ordinary meoting," when the Ohairman will move that a by-law be framed to prohibit the use of barbed • wire in fenoes fronting on publio or private streets and publio places. In aocordance with notioe given at the last meeting, Mr Clephane moved— "That Mr F. H. Brittan be informed that, as soon as funrta a<-e available, that part of Gloucester atreet lately formed by him will be regraded by the Board, and he will be held responsible fer tho oost thereof." After a deal of disoussion tho resolution waa carried, and the meeting terminated.
