LYTTELTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The annual meeting of this Oouncil took plaoe yesterday at noon, when an adjourn, ment took place till 7.30 p.m. Mr Samuel Bollin Webb, who was reelected Mayor, was installed, and made the usual declaration. Ihe Mayor proposed, and Councillor Merson seconded, a hearty vote of thanka to the Beturmng-Officer, whioh was at once oarried. At tbe evening meeting a letter was read from Messrs Easton and Anderson, of White ball place, London, stating that the water supply oyhnders ordered would be shipped at an early date. A letter from the Commissioner of Property tax, re rating Orown Lands in tbe Borougb, was left with the Estates Committee. A request frora the Hon Sscretary of the Lyttelton Land Sports was granted, on tho usual conditions. lhe Singer Sewing Maohine Company's agent asked to be allowed to erect a verandah on their promises, London street. . Aooounts were passed for payment amount--1 ing to £60, and receipts were reported at £39 14s 6d. Xhe Colonists' Hall Committee reported having resolved to make an effort to initiate the refreshment room at the Hall, and a grant of £5 was made for the furnishing of the room. A grant of £20 was made to the Fire Brigade, wherewith to purohase boota. It was resolved to send Home for a lot of new books for the Library, by next mail. lhe meeting then adjourned.
