DIVOBOB CASUS. THE OHABGB OF MURDER. WELLINGTON, Die. 20. A despatoh by the mail states that the Confederation and Annexation Bill has been reserved for the signification of Her Majesty's pleasure. Her Majesty will not he finally advised to assent to this Bill until the result of the reoent Conference at Sydney is received. Mr 3. Evans Brown, M.H.9. for St Albans, was married at St Peter's Ohuroh this afternoon. The bride waa Mra Martin, a resident of Wellington. The various Mayors are gazetted Justices of the Peace. Mr T. W. Hislop haß been appointed Crown Solioitor of Oamaru. Sir William Fox's Weat Coaat Oommission has been further extended until July 1, 1884. Partioulars respecting the Gilohrist scholarship appear in to-night's Oasette. The examination will, it ia expeoted, take plaoe in June, 1884, or aa soon after as the examination papers arrive in the Colony. The first meeting of the Oounoil of the Teaohers' Institute, will be held here the first week in January. The next sitting of the Divorce Court is fixed for Jan. 14. At present only two cases are eet down on the list, Edwards v Edwarda, in whioh the application is for a decree nisi, and Blwell v Elwell, in wbich a deoree absolute is asked for. The retiring Town Olerk and City Engineer are to be entertained at a complimentary banquet. The man Anderson, who attempted to murder his paramour at Carterton, has been oemmitted'for trial.
