fi The Annual School treat in 'Connection , with ; the Te Matai School was held on Saturday last 'and proved highly successful. The weather fortunately, which hadlm'eviou? ly been most unpropitious, cleared at about nine, and ■ the daytemained fine throughout. Under the' direction of Mr Sealy and a number of '.parents sports i and games' of \ various kinds were ■ '' indulged in, a feature of the proceedings being the fouguration of ' The various events oh this"occasion were won as ■'. follow-!':—looyds, J. Mark; §mile Steeplechase, H. Joyce;.high, jump, A. Watkins; hop-step-and-jump (girls), A. • Watkins ; ;'hittihg the hockey ball, (girls) D.McCracken. Refreshments were .provided in abundance,' and;;both young and old \thoroughly enjoyed the day's "' touting- -The proceedings were ; wound up in the evening with a .' jestive gathering. On Thursday a number of the 1 elder pupils came in to Te Puke and paid visits of inspection to the Bay of Plenty Dairy Association's Factory and to the Te Puke Times Office, They were exceedingly interested in what they saw, and obtained an insight into various matters which had hitherV* to been a sealed book to them.
