A STRIKE BILL.
Wellington, Thursday. The Police Offences Amendment Bill, introduced to strengthen their hand in dealing with picketing and intimidation, has undergone considerable change at'the hands of the Statutes Revision Committee. Five definitions of unlawful intimidations or violence, "with a view to restricting the freedom of any person to do or abstain from doing any act" are contained in the Bill. One of these ■ definitions was originally phrased "Persistently follows such other person about from place to place.'•' The word "persistently " has been deleted by the committee, which has not interfered with the penalty, a maximum of £20, or three months' imprisonment. A drastic clause giving very wide powers to constables to arrest persons without warrant has been struck out, and another important ideletioa is ithe provision which exempted from the scope of the bill the act of watching a person or a business place ir, order to merely obtain or communicate information.
