TE PUKE HACK CLUB.
A committee meeting of the above club was held on Friday night last, when there . were present: MessrsWmtle,Washer, Wright, Chester, McEwen, Kerr, Brownlee, Mulgi'ove and Montgomery. , The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed The drawing up of the programme was the subject of much discussion, as it was necessary to include events that would be most attractive to horse owners. Finally, the following programme was adopted. Short's Handicap, 4 furlongs, Ist prize £10, 2nd &1 10s. Hack Scurry, 6 furlongs, Ist prize £5, 2nd £1. Te Puke Cup, 14 miles, Ist prize £20, 2nd £3. Local Handclap, 1 mile, Ist prize £7, 2nd £1 ss. Flying Handicap, 1 mile, Ist prize £1010s, 2nd £1 10s. Forced Handicap, 5 furlongs, compulsory for winners of races 1, 3 and 5, Ist prize £8, 2nd prize £15s. Although the number of events has been reduced by one, the total prize money exceeds that of last year, as several of the races have been added to.
