PROFIT IN PIGS.
, ■■ *■— A PROSPEROUS COMPANY. The annual report of the Inglewood Bacon Curing Company, Ltd., presented at the annual meeting held last week, disclosed a highly satisfactory state of affairs. The report stated .--Owing to the diminished supply of pigs, prices for pigs and also for the factory products had been very high during the past year, whilst the demand for bacon had been very keen, and was still unsatisfied. Although the number of pigs handled at the factory was fewer than that for the previous year, the amount paid oat showed a substantial increase. During the year the • company paid out to shareholders the sum of £559 8s Id in excess of the market price of pigs. A further payment of £52210s 9d, being at the rate of one farthing per lb. on all pigs received, had also been authorised, and paid. The working of the insurance fund had been most satisfactory, and a refund of 3d per pig had been made on all pigs received. A dividend of 5 per cent on share capital had been authorised to be paid. The rate of depreciation had been increased, ample allowance had been made for bad and doubtful debts, and there remained a balance of £319s 6d to carry forward. The number of shareholders again Ftawpd a large, increase, while the 'share capital account still continued to be satisfactory. In anticipation -pf a largely increased supply of pigs during the coming season, further improvements and additions to the buildings and plant are being made. The outlook for the coming season was a bright one, and a record season is anticipated, in so far as the number of pigs is concerned, and prices are expected to reach a high level. *
