AERIAL ACCIDENTS.
TWO SERIOUS SMASHES. London, September 19. A (tor the first aerial Derby round London yesterday, Mr Sydney Pickles, the Australian airman, ami a passenger Mrs Stocks, fell and were severely injured. Pickles, when turning, steered in the direction of.the spectators' tea pavilion, and was preparing to descend \vhon ; the engine •jitipped and the fell, and lost control. . , The nnchine almost righted, but suddenly dived aim )3t30 feet to earth, Pic vie.; and Mrs Stocks won eimplekdy buried in the wre/*ago. Pickles, in addition to a fracture of the leg, sustains! severe {rashes on the thigh and abil >men. and a crushed foot. Mrs Stocks sulf jrn-1 concussion of th? brain. l>ith were removed to tile hos;j;t.d. where the doctors are hopeful of tlieir uhimate recovery.
