THE WATER SUPPLY SCHEME
MR SPENCER TO DRAW UP A REPORT. The question of the appointment of an engineer to draw up a report of a water scheme and present an estimate of the cost of s iiiiii was considered at last night's meeting of the Town Board. An application for the position was received from Mr Dansey, formerly of the Government Railway Department, who referred the Board to various engineers in tho public service as well as to other men highly placed i?i the profession, as to his qualifications. Air Dansey also attended the meeting in person, and gave particulars of the works he had undertaken in New Zealand, also stating that he had studied in England and France. He ihen withdrew.
The Chairman said tho position was that I lie services of Messrs Spencer, of ToKtiiii, andDansey were available. They had nothing definite as to whether Mr Climie could undertake the work, lie reminded members that they were there as guardians of the public and asked Ihem to select the man they in«»st suitable.
The meeting ivsolved to confine the choice to Messrs Spencer and D.oisev.
