A return showing the cost of some more or less recent Ministerial trips abroad was laid before Parliament last iweek. When Sir Joseph Ward attended the Conference of Premiers in England in 1907 he cost the country £1500, and a grant of £550 was made to his private secretary He went Home again in 193) to to attend the IMcnco Conference. He received £300 fjr expenses, and his private secretary received £450, while £12 was paid for the passage of ano ttei'ssii'e'vv bS/iiw. Who he went Home at the Coronation of the King in 1911, Sir Joseph received £1500 and his private secretary £459105. The expenses of Sir John Findlay on the same occasion amounted to £800, and of his private secretary to £301 10s. The recent visit of the Hon. James Albn to cost the Dominion £1450-£IO3O for himself and £450 for his secretary. For the Hon. G. Fo vlds's visit to South Africa 'the bill amounted to £859, of which £450 was on account of the Minister and £200 for his private secretary. As to the recent visit to Australia of the Hon. Mr Fisher the account heads as follows : Travelling allowance £79 10s, travelling expenses L'j7 15s; travelling allowance and expanses of private secretary L 107155, expenses of return lunche'Ki to Federal Ministry LS2 15s 61; total L28715s Gd.
