THE FEMALE CHUCKER-OUT.
Sullivan, Mitchell, Jem Mace, nnd all the champion knockers-out will have to look to their laurels. There is a female " chuckerout" in a certain Queen-street hotel who can give any of them points, and still wear a lovely smile, without so much as smudging her war-paint. The other day an ex-Blue Ribbon man, who had been imbibing too much "barmaid's blush," fell into the arms of — well, suppose we say Morpheus, and was taking a siesta on a convenient couch, when enter another masher. The female barmaid was just in the act of rousing the " sleeping beauty," when the new arrival exclaimed— "Here! leave that man alone; he's a friend of mine, if you touch him you touch me." Instantly, and after the most approved fashion of the P. 8., the female Jem Mace struck an attitude and went for that intruder with a stinger on the proboscis. Quickly recovering himself, however, the gallant, with the chivalry of his brood, squared up to the lady, only to receive one from her left, followed up in rapid succession with both hands. lie cried pecavi, and went away for repairs. That charming beer-sliuger is now known among the bar-loungers and youug men about town as "the Auckland Jem Mace."
