EIGHT HOURS DEMONSTRATION SPORTS.

Ix another column will be fouwd the full programme of these sports. It consists of twenty events, and will take a full day to run off. The principal handicap is to be run at 100, 200, and -100 yards, and the prizes are £]0, £■'>, and £2 10s. There is a 200 yards Hurdle Handicap, cup and £l first prize, and other trophy prizes. Mile Handicap, first prize £o, second and third prizes, useful articles and money. Two Mile Walking Handicap, same amount for first, and clothing, &c, for place prizes. Obstacle Eace. over ten obstacles, prizes £8, £4, and trophies. And the other events are a, maiden race, and a number of races for different trades. In all open races three must enter or no event, and in trade races six entries must be forthcoming to assure a start. Entries will be received between the hours of seven and ten p.m. on Saturday night, 24th instant, at the Workingnion's Club. Messrs Twohill, Taylor, and Willis will handicap, and no doubt will do the work satisfactorily. One good rule they have made is that no trainer or attendant will be allowed on the track. This looks as though they mean to keep the crowd back on this occasion.
