SINGS OF THE TIMES.
Judging from an advertisement which, appeared in the leading jSTew Plymouth paper the other day, things cannot be very flourishing in that quarter. A notice "tocon tractors " is published, inviting tenders for the construction of a "small wheelbarrow for the New Plymouth Lawn Tennis Clnb," and specifications are on view at the* Daily New* Office. The advertisers were careful to avoid being committed to unlimited expenditure on this stupendous undertaking, for they intimated that the lowest or any tender would not necessarily be accepted. What the^New Plymouth. Lawn Tennis Club .'want with, the small
wheelbarrow must be left to conjecture. Can it bo to remove any of the players who may be placed liars de combat in the game, or who drink too much ginger-beer ?
