ESSAY COMPETITION.
We now offer a prize of £1 (one pound) for the best original essay, of any length, on the question — " How to Manage a Lover, with a View to Matrimony and a Happy Futtjbe." •1. The competition is open to I/ADIES only, of any age. 2. Competitive essays must reach the Editor on or before the 29th instant, up to noon. 3. Competitors must write only on one side of the paper. Contravention of this rule will involve disqualification. 4. Nom-de-plume to accompany essay, with, name and address in separate sealed envelope. 5. Communications to be addressed Editor, Observer, Shortland-street, Auckland.
