WAIWERA.

I notice that some scribbler has been attacking Mr "Watson, of this place. Now, I am only one of many who can testify to the uniform civility of Mr "Watson, and his conscientious regard to the comfort of visitors, and the attack would be unworthy of notice but for the fact that a wrong impression might thus be conveyed to the minds of strangers. Mr Watson's eight years of faithful management of his special department at Waiwera speaks for itself, and. if anyone Was offended by him, it ia almost a dead certainty that it was deserved. Waiwera is worked on strict rules and principles, but if some unruly spirits had their own way it would not be the popular and pleasant retreat that it now is. I strongly suspect that the injured being who has aired his wounded feelings has been trying to transgress the rules, and that Mr Watson was obliged in the discharge of his duty to pull the curb rein. When some one called Miss Graham's attention to the paragraph she exclaimed, " Dear me, we must all mind our manners since people are getting so critical. I shall be catching it if I don't take care." There was a hearty laugh, and one of her countless galiant admirers remarked that it would, be really worth while to vamp up some small disparagement against her just for the sake of seeing the -storm it would raise, and the deluge of indignant letters it would bring down upon the newspapers.
