DARGAVILLE.
The annual children's picnic was held on Monday, the 20th inst., and notwithstanding the bad weather we have had since the races, the day turned out to be all that could be wished for. The s.s. Tangihua was chartered and left the wharf at 9.45 a.m. having on board a great crowd. The route taken was to Tangitiroria, which was reached at 1.15. Here all left the steamer and the children had a gambol on the hills until 2.30 when we embarked and started for home, calling in at Mr Wilson's on our way, where we were treated to a good feed of fruit and had every kindness shewn us by Mr Wilson and his family. We got on board again at 4.45., arriving home safe and. sound at 7 o'clock. Befreshments of all kinds were provided, the catering being very creditably cai'ried out bj Mr McLean. Some fireworks were let off on nearing home to the great delight of all •on board. The children all seemed to have •enjoyed themselves thoroughly, and great praise is due to Mr 3J. Mitchelson for providing for them .such a pleasant day's outing.
