(By the Poet Law^-Tennison.) Maori King from, the King Oountree — Tawhiao ! Bigwigs, Plebeians, and Snobs are we, But all of us Snobs in our welcome of thee — Tawhiao ! Shout, ye cliiefs, by Orakei's sliore — Tawhiao ! " Haeri-mai " till your throats are sore, And open your shark and Jcumara store — Tawhiao ! Tangi and linngi — a royal rub — Tawhiao ! Shout till ye waken Beelzebub, While ye pile in the succulent Maori " grub " — Tawhiao ! Welcome him, Devonport Ferry Co.'s fleet — Tawhiao ! Welcome him, Mayor, with smile so sweet : Swanson and Campbell, your monarch greet — Tawhiao! On the blazing bonfire pile the logs — Tawhiao ! Tell, ye " larrikins " ! bark, ye dogs ! Shout, ye " kids," in your Sunday " togs " ! — Tawhiao ! Swell, ye crowds, through the busy town — Tawhiao ! Shout from the dawn till the sun goes down, And the chiefs go to rest in the " Governor Browne " — Tawhiao ! Ring out the bells over land and sea — Tawhiao ! For Bigwig, Plebeian, and Snob are we ; But "larrikin," "swell," or whatever we be, We are all of us Snobs in our welcome of thee — Tawhiao ! The Black Knight.
