Annual visit of Inspector —During' tho year the annual visit of inspection' Was made Ijy the Boa.rd of Inspectors!. The whole of the standards with the exception of Standard VI. weire inspected. The l'esults as embodied in the report were most gratifying, and reflected the highest credit upon the head teafcher and Ms assistants at the Waio-Karaka Sciliool and Mliss Pascoe, sole teacher 1 ati the Waiotahi Oi-eelc School. The order, tone, and discipline! of the schools thii'oiughout is repoi-'ted as good. Alt the annual examination of Standard VT. pupils, held in December, the pupila from this school were well to the front.

School Gala. —The; innovation of last ye:\.r was continued this yen*. Tlie demonstration was held at Para-

wai, and provted even a greater suooeiss than on the fennesr octeasion. It vtould appeal" as if this popular' outing lias oome -to stay. The financial i vesxilt was also Very satisfactoiy. To the committee who were responsible for the organisation a special word of prtuse is due.

Libraiy.—iThis continues to- he of great assistance to the pupils who take a live interest in this department of their school life. Daring' the year 174 new books wiere added to the clolletetion at a cost of £12. This .amount was met toyl raisingl £6 locally, to which the Bbai'd Granted £.1 for £1 subsidy.

Finande.—The abstract of the scihool funds shows thait the committee had a total sum of £92' 11s gr'antedi by the Boai'dl of Eiducaition to meat the ordinaiy expenses of administration, fuel, stationery, light, repairs, printing, eta The balance forward from the previous year was £■19 19s 4d, making a total income of £112 10s 4d. The expenditure for the year was £107 4s sd, leaving a folalancie in hand! of £5 5s lid. Againat this therei are outstanding liabilities amounting 1 to £11. One causa of this deficiency is that the usual capitation wais not paid last year. However we undleirstand it will bei available for the ensuing year. The 1 total grant for the "Waiotahi School foir the year was £12 18s. The expenditure for cleaning and night-soil Was £18, leaving nothing for fuel, stationery, etci. Your committee has repeatedly pointed out thd position of this school's! finances to the Board of Elduaat.ion, but so far its efforts to secure a special grant in aid of the funds have been unavailing. The abstract of receipts and expendlitur'e, together v/'itli the Moots and accounts have been forwarded to the Board of Education for 1 the purpose of audit in accordance with Section 167 of the 'Education Abb. —'"Waiotahi School.— This school has .teen under the charge of Miss Pasjcoe, who continues to oibtain good results) as evidenced by the inspector's report. During the yeai' Mrs I. G. Miaxtod! was appointed aa aS3ista.nt to M,issi P'ascoe, who speaks in terms of liig'he&t pr'aisio of this lady's capabilities. —General.— A movement of some importance was recently inaugurated in connection with the locial Techuioal School. A meeting was recently held of representatives of the 'vlarious local committees where matters in connection with this school were fully discussled. Tlie outdoane of the meeting was a. dcciisioin to recommemi to the director (Mr G-ciorgje) the advisaibility of liaiving a. local coanmittee, to consist of a representative froan each school. This recommendation has ibleen forwarded to the director for his approval, which is awaited with considerable intei-est. PROMOTION OF TEIAdMEIRa It Wais decided, on the motion of Mi* A. Burns, seconded Iby N Mr . Shandi: "Tha.t tliis meeting of householder clonsiders that in the best interests of education, a dominion s'dheme for the promotion of teachers is urgently required."

ELECTION OF COiMMITTEiE. The deletion of committee resulted in tho following being appointed : —
