Ifo challenged Mi'r Taylor to come to Greymouth and he would come from Wellington, the Mlayor of preside), Mr,Taylor to appoint one auditor and Mr Thompson to appoint another, the Mayor to! announce to the audience the correctness or- otherwise of tha figures contained! in ths now famous one thousand pounds challengei. "If/ said Mr Thompson, "I am wrong in mjr figures I will walk oil the platfoa-m aaid never say another word against piohibition. If I am right let Mi' Taylor acknowledge it.;'
