The contractors have extended! the main crosscut n further 27ft for the past fortnight, whidh is somewhat below the usual a.vterage, owing! to the ElajSter holidays intervening. Tlie country in the face is still of a hard nature, 'but isi now more jointly and easier to Wo^k and free from water. The face is. now in a distance of 1-13 ft in the iSlaxon giiountll from the May Queen and Siaxon boundary, and a total distance of 480 ft from the oluamiber of the Quern of Beauty shaft. The; present contractors have driv|en 353 ft from the point where they commended work.
