Second Day.
The second day's races of the above meeting took place today, when there was again a large attendance, fully 1700 persons being present. The weather waa beautiful, and the sport excellent, the Tarious events being well contested. The following is the result of the events up to the time of our going to press:—
The first event upon the programme was the
Flying Stakes Handicap of 45sovs., Ssovs. out of stakes to second horse. Distance, f-mile. Entrance, lsov.; acceptance, £1 10s. V D. Towbill's Mystery, Bst 4lbs (Wil« liamsj, ... ... 1 W. Robertson's Kalo, 7st 31bs (Durs- ,
ton) 2 W. K. Carter's Rewi, 7st 61bs (Pear-
son) .... ... ... ... 3 Blarney, 6st 31bs (Huxtable), and Diver, sst 71bs (Irwin), also ran. After one or two ineffectual attempts to get the horses away together, they were at length let off to a disgraceful start, Kalo and Mystery getting the best of it by a length or two. After about 800 yds had been traversed. Mystery overhauled Kalo, with llewi third, and Blarney and Diver following in the order named. These positions were maintained until the back of the coarse, when Rewi came up and., raced with Mystery and Kalo almost neck and neck until the turn into the straight was reached, when Mystery increased her lead from Eewi and Kalo, the trio passing the judge's stand id the ordernamed, fully a length separating Mystery and Eewi, and a similar distance Kalo and Blarney, Diver being t a poor fifth. Totalisator (10s tickets), 471 investors, 253 on the winner; dividend, 16s.
Considerable dissatisfaction was expressed at the starting of the horses in this race, and Mr W. S. Styak resigned his position, Mr W. Bobbett consenting to fill the arduous duties appertaining thereto,

J. Chad wick's Notice of Motion ... 1 C. Winder's Butcher Boy 2 J. Chad wick's Worm ... ... -...3 Penwing and New Chum also started. Several false starts resulted, during one of which Butcher Boy gal lopped about 300 yards ere be could be pulled up. The horses were at length go.t off to a very bad start. Bqtpher Boy soon took the lead, apd on passing the judge's stand he was ahead, with Notice of Motion at his heels, and Worm third, the other two a length or two behind. The positions remained much the same until at the far end of the course Notice of Mot 103 $am,e up and challenged, Butcher jpioy, the pair running together neck and neck, with Worm close np, the others some distance away. At the turn into the straight for home the horses were all being flogged severely, Butcher Boy leading by half a length, wh.ea the rider called upon Notice of Motion, who came gamely, and won bj half, a length from Butcher Boy, Worm about some lengths behind, third, the other two some 20 or 30 lengths away. Dividend £1 Is. The winner was entered to be sold for £20.
