NAPIER.

This day.

Te Kooti and about two hundred followers marched three abreast into Petone Pah this morning, The procession was headed by a standard bearer with a white flag having tbe Union Jack in the corner, and tbe words "Te Kooti" in black letters across the white body of the banner.* In the procession, seated in a buggy* was Te Kooti, attended by three aides-dc camp in uniform, and thirty women. He was received at the river by the Petane natives, who were stark naked, and the usual barbaric demonstrations for such occasions were observed. No arms were observable amongst Te Kooti's people. The Petane natives expect tbe Hawke's Bay settlers to pay respect to Te Kooti, on the ground that he is a greater general than Sir George Whitmore, having defeated him several times. All fhe natives speak of " General " Te Kooti. „
