this day. The steamer Delta caught fire on Saturday while on the voyage from the Waikato Heads to Mercer. It was supprsssed with great difficulty, the steamer being iojured to the extent of £60, and the cargo of flax £80. The flax ignited through sparks from the funnel. There was'no insurance whatever. Mr W. E. Waddell was re-elected Mayor for the third time without opposition to-day.
