This day. William Beard, the second mate of the barquentine Energy, fell overboard at Helensville on Saturday and was drowned. The nude body of a man named Edward Johnston was found in the Waitemata near Point Chevalier yesterday; he is supposed to have been bathing. ' G. A. Sala, who lectures here to-night, proceeds to the Hot Lakes on Wednesday; he is invited by Sir Geo. Grey to Kawau.
