Yesterday. A sad accident is reported from Leeston. Three children of Mr Douglas were play, ing on a straw stack this afternoon,} and one of them who bad some matches set fire to the straw. Though assistance was close at hand, and two of the children were dragged from the burning straw, the flames had got too great's hold for it to be possible to save the third,—a little boy three years old, who was burnt to death. This day. Arrived: ship Zealandia, 106 days from London. A small cottage in Roxburgh street, occupied by Mr Currie and owned by Mr McKelvie, Manawatu, was destroyed by fire at 10 o'clock this morning. It was insured for £90 in the Victoria.
