Paeboa, Yesterday. Ivanhoe.—There in no change to report in this mine since my last visit. Driving is still proceeding on the reef at the low level, and a leading stope is also being carried along. A trial parcel from the reef at the low level, which is heavily mineralised, ha? been put through the battery, but it shaped poorly. Sotbs.—The drive at the low level is passing through a good class of country, and has now been extended a distance of 130 ft.; it is expected that No. 3 lode will be to hand in another 30ft. At the outface level the leader is about 20 inches I wide, and gives; good, dish prospects, while a jjtfle gold is seen in the stone. A new reef was discovered, on Tuesday last; it is about 2£ft. wide, and there are some dark blue streaks through the quarts, supposed to be silver, while a few dolors of coarse gold have also been seen in the Btone. } Rstkbat.—The leader in the drive is i about three jacket jo thickness, but work
has been suspended for the present, pooding amalgamation with the Crown. Diamond.—The winze from No. 1 level has been sunk a distance of 80ft, and the . reef is from lft to 3ft in thickness, but work is stopped for the present. Bosk. -Work is being pushed on in this mine, and the reef in the low level w a I nice body of stone, which give s good {prospects of gold when pmnded up and washed. There are now about 10 tons of quartz in the hopper. Golden Cbown.— The drive on No. 2 lode has been extended a distance of about 21ft since my last visit. The reef is from 4 to sft in - thickness, and shows gold freely when broken. The total quantity of quartz to grass from this lode is about 200 tons, and it is intended to send a {Mfeel of 50 tons to the Thames for treatment by the LaMonte furnace. - Welcome.—The crosscut to interieet the Crown No. 2 reef is io about 70ft, and it is expected that the reef will be met with in about 40ft. i Woodstock —The contractors are making satisfactory progress with the extension of the drive, and the reef is again opening out, being now from 4 to 6ft wide m the face. Another 10ft will complete •- the present contract. Kenilwobth —The maaager has been trenching on the surface on a reef about 3ft wide, supposed to be the Woodstock lode. It is intended to clean up the Hauraki level, and get it in working order. The reef is of large size, and has given satisfactory result! in gold and silver by assay. ; ,
