The tarring case was brought before the Court again to-day. The Hon. Mr Buckley was examined, and stated that he knew the accused, but knew nothing of the assault until the morning after it occurred. Two other witnesses deposed to seeing the accused with a handcuff before the assault. Edward Mclntosh, of the Hutt, deposed to seeing a cab gtandjnjj at the (Joui't-house, but did npt know the"driver, lie had peen offered a bribe of £20 by Mr Trams' managing clerk if he would give evidence to convict the driver.
