Pabis, September 14.
The reinforcement of 3000 men despatched to Madagascar, has arrived, and Admiral Miot has now resumed offensive r rations against the Hovas. Svakim, September 13.
A number of rebels made their appear-, ance in this neighborhood to-day. Troops were despatched to disperse them, and in a skirmish which ensued, four rebels were killed.
London, September 13.
The N.Z. Shipping Company's chartered ship, the Douglas, bound from London to Auckland, encountered a gale of unusual severity when coming down the Channel, rendering it necessay to put into Falmouth.

September 13. In the four miles race between W. C. George, of Birmingham, and W. Cummings, of Paisley, the latter won. The Archbishop of Aix, a city in the department of Bronches dv Rhone, France, has died from cholera.
