[Reutbb's Teeegbams.] [Received September 12, noon] Beblin, September 11. The Caroline IslandsCount Hatzfeldt, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, has received a dispatch from the Spanish Government relating to the claims of that country to the Caroline Islands. The tone of the note is amicable, and hopes expressed that Germany will recognise the claim. London, September 11.
Lord Carrington was entertained at a farewell banquet' last evening at the Beaconsfield Club. The Agents-General for tbe various colonies were among the guests. Lord Carrington, in a speech in reply to the toast of the evening, referred to the colonies, eulogised their recent offers of aid to the British Government, and said that the lion's cubs have proved themselves worthy offsprings of the mother country. Lord lloseberry also spoke, and expatiated upon the desirability and advantages of federation. Sir gaul Samuel, replying to the toast of the Agents General, welcomed Lord Carrington as the new Governor of Ifew South Wales. September 10. Tbe Union Football Association are arranging for ryatpb.es with the Australian team, which is about to visit Eng» land.
