A society is being formed called the Guild of the Holy Cross, for promoting the better observancp^of church seasons, and days of fasting and abstinence; the movement is made by the Church of England. The Missicners and Archdeacon Dudley attended Massey's lecture last night on the subject of a mythical Christ, but refrained frenraskiDg questions. (Per Pbess Association). WELLINGTON. This day. Messrs Buckley and Tole, the Bryce and Busdcn Commissioners, met this morning for the purpose of taking further evidence, but adjourned until the afternoon, when the evidence of Sir Geo. Whitmore will be taken. Messrs Izard and Bell, counsel for Mr ltusden, have cabled Home asking for an extension of the commission, on the grounds of further important evidence. It is known that this request has been granted, although no official intimation has yet been received.
