Mr Parnell addressed a large public meeting in Dublin last night. In tbe course of his speech, he stated he was confident of winning Irish independence next session, and added it was resolved to impose upon future candidate! for Parliament a pledge of unswerving obedience to the chief of the National party. August 25. The demobilisation of the Army Reserve has been commenced in accordance with the announcement recently made by Mr W. H. Smith, Secretary for War.

The Central Queensland Meat Export Company have been awarded a gold medal, and the Gear Meat Preserving Company, of Wellington, a silver medal for their exhibits of preserved meats at the Antwerp Exhibition. . .
