Waixbh returned from London by the steamer Kaikoura, having disposed of 160,000 acres of land on the Upper Thames to the New Zealand Thames Valley Railway Company, which proposes to dispose of the same in terras of a prospectus recently issued. He states that the present upset prices of rural lands is from 50e per acre, coeh, and that land can also be taken on lease for a period of five or six years at a fixed rental with right to purchase the freehold at the expiration of the term, while farmers proceeding from England can, if they desire, secure their lands by deferred payments. Since leaving England, Mr Walker learned that some 8000 or 10,000 acres of the above land had been disposed of to some Northern settlers on deferred payments, and there are about 100,000 acres Still open for sale.
