His Excellency the Governor has issued a proclamation ordering that quarantine be imposed on all vessels arriving Id Port Philip from ports where cholera is prevalent. The sentence of two months imprison* naeut passed upon the second batch of the Queenscliffe mutineers has been confirmed by the Governor. Adelaide, Yesterday. The Colonial Treasurer, Mr Newland, brought down his financial statement last night. He proposes to increase the duties on ale and beer by threepence per gallon, and on spirits by eight shillings a gallon, while the duties on tobacco and cigars will bo raised to sixpence and a shilling respectively. It is proposed to levy an import duty of fire shillings on ! horses, two shillings and sixpence on cattle, threepence on sheep, and two shillings on pigs. All the present five per cent, ad valorem duties are to be abolished. Melbottbnje, Yesterday. Sailed, this afternoon : The Union Co.'s 's.s. Kotomahana, for New Zealand. It is considered probable that the sentences of six months with hard labor and dismissal of service passed upon the insubordinate permanent artillerymen in July, will bs somewhat modified by Government. Beisbane, Yesterday. The Hon J. R. Dickson, Colonial Trea~ surer, has brought down his Financial Statement. He proposes, in order tomeet the deficiency of the coming year, to introduce fresh taxation to the extent of £90,000. The duty on spirits has been increased by two shillings. per gallon ; machinery, which has hitherto been admitted free, will be subjected to 5 per cent ad valorem duty. It is intended to increase the duty on imported timber, and an excise duty of threepence per gallon is to be levied on beer brewed in the colony.
