OUR MINES.
CAMBRIA. The reef in the winze being sunk at No. 3 level continues to look really well, and produces good hauls of specimens whenever broken down. In taking down the hangingwall portion this morning the manager secured the excellent haul of 15Olbs of specimens, while there is a good show of gold still visible in the bottom. There is no change worthy of mention in the other workings of the mine. Crushing ia shaping for a good return. ' NEW MANtT&AU. The drive on the leader from the Waiotahi mine is now within 2 or 3ft. of the Manukau boundary, and work .on behalf of this company will be commenced from hero on Monday, under the supervision of Mr J. E. Smith. The I leader in the face is about 6 inches in I thickness, and has shown some improvement during the past few days, showing good dabs of gold, while a few pounds of picked stone came -to hand when break' ing down this morning. THAMES GOLDEN CEOWN. The drive from the shaft ut No. 3 level intersected the reef this morning. It is from 18 inches to 2ft. in thickness, but is somewhat disturbed at present, owing to "the influence of a clay head. The quartz is of a very favorable nature for gold, and carries nice minerals, while strong colors of gold were seen through the stone. l About 20ft. will require to be driven seaward to connect with the wiDze sunk from No. 2 level, and this work will-be commenced as soon as possible. When this is done, stoping operations can at once be commenced, while ifr will also give good ventilation. It is gratifying to notice the existence of gold at the low level, as a large block of ground can be easily opened up. NEW FIND (WAIOEONGOMAI). Thefollowing telegram was received in Auckland on Thursday from the manager: —" No. 1 reef in low level drive north showing an improvement during last few days. The reef has been much poorer than usual during the week, but it has every appearance of improving. It has widened out, and is now 4 feet thick in the face. From the stope first-class stone is coming to hand daily. To-day some of the best stone yet taden out of the mine was obtained from the hangingwall side of the reef, the lode being from 3to 4 feet thick. A saw-pit is being mado for the purpose of cutting rails for the (ram in the main level.
