This day.

A dastardly attempt was proved to have been made to scuttle the brig Transport, loading in Makarau, last Sunday, by which she filled, and settled on the hard. An examination showed that three augur holes had been bored through the copper, and an augur has bsen found aboard which has copper adhering to the screw. Captain Koberts has bad a survey made, and proceeds to Auckland for advice and assistance. The vessel belongs to Captain Ellis, of Newcastle, and is uninsured.
