INVERCARGILL.
This day. Despite the low prices quoted for grain, farmers in many parts of the district are preparing to bring large areas under crop; the weather is very ,; favorable to such operations, the days being bright and warm and the nights frosty. The Wallace County Council yesterday passed a resolution disapproving of the proposals in the new Counties Bill, to allow ratepayers to elect the chairman, and to make auditors elective.
