ASHBURTON.
Yesterday.
At the Wakanui election nominations to-day, the show of hands was—Wright, 54; Ivess, 50. A poll was demanded for Ivess. Ivess challenged Wright to stake £50 and prove that Ivess' paper (A»hbur». ton Mail) ever misrepresented Wright's conduct in connection with the Methren railway or Mount Somer's railway. Wright readily accepted the challenge, and announced his intention to give the whole of the stakes to a local charitable institution.
