THAMES GOLDEN OEOWN

In the winze the reef is about three feet wide, and some strong colors of gold are seen. The shaft is dowir thirty feet, and three weeks should see it the depth proposed, seventy feet. The manager reports for the past week hs follows:—" The drive on the footwall branch of No. 2 lead at No. 5 level has now been extended to Within a few feet of the Deep Level Cross boundary. '1 he lead is still small both in the drire and otopes, but continues to contribute occasionally a few pounds of good picked stone. There are at present only two men employed in the stopes on No. 4 lead, which ; has been looking a little better this week. The stopes on No. 1 reef westward of the j break below No. 4 level are still con* tinning to produce a fair amount of good payable dirt. The hang- j ingwall and footwall portions of this reef, which have been driven on separately going eastward, have'now come together, j so that both branches of the reef can be taken now in the odo drive. There is about 3ft of crushing dirt being broken out from here, which looks very promising, but no gold has been seen lately. At No. 3 level two men are employed driving on the hangingwail lead, which is a mass of stringers, most of m hich show a little gold.- G. S. Ciabk." NEW NORTH STAR. The reef in the drive at the low level arerages about 10 inches in thickness, and in breaking the quartz good colors of gold flontioue to be seen. Fair progress is being made with the extension of the drive, though the country is rather tight at present. GOLD RETURNS. Moanataiei. ~ Diamond and party have completed a crushing of 5 loads for 7ozs 12dwts retorted gold. .
