This day, A telegram from White's Cliffs states that Sewi, who was accompanying Wetere from the Waikato, ou reaehjug Mokau had
to return homo, being too ill to proceed. Rewi was coming to Waitara to dig up the mere buried at the foot of the main supportofthe house, built to commemorate the Waitara meeting in 1878, as Wetere wishes remove the house to Mokau. Accnrding to Maori ideas, the mere can only be removed by the original depositor, or those closely connected with him, without danger to life, 80 great is the tapu. Tho twelve apostles who accompany Wetere have the authority to act for Rewi: the party then go on to Te Wliii: 1; at Parihaka. -^
