This day. The City Council has accepted a tender for £4975 for the construction of fresh water baths. „ , , . . „. The Bishop of Nelson has" written a letter to the Bishop of Auckland, regretting that alterations had been made in the letter written by him to Mr Brondhurst, M.P., re Bishop Barry's action regarding marriage with deceased wife's sister. The Bishop of Nelnon states: "What I s.aid was to the effect that 1 there were, I knew, four Bishops in Australasia, including ISevr Zealand." At the City South Licensing meeting (adjourned) to-day, a renewal of {licenses were refused to the Criterion and Wellington hotels. The bench announced that they would next year refuse a renewal to the Eob Boy Hotel. v A fire at Waitakerei this morning destroyed an old flax mill belonging to John Kelly. It was stored {with wool and timber; nothing was sared. The insurances are unknown. The residence of F. D. Yonng, near Howiek, was burnnd down. It was insured for £409 in the New Zealand Office. . James Eg an has been arrested on a charge of threatening to shoot Mr Bethell at the Kerikeri sawmill, Onehunga. Prisoner presented two loaded revolvers at Bethell's head beoanse the latter had called him names a year ago. He will be chaiged at the Police Court to-morrow.
