During the trial of Lucas for wounding his wife with intent to kill, an extrabrdi* nary scene occurred. The. prisoner averred that his wife was perjuring her*

self, because of « hatred she had taken to him, and for the sake of " that tall Chinaman." He declared tbat he was not, and could provo it, the father of his wife's child. He pressed for an examination, and he ami Doctors Mclntyre and Hogg retired for the purpose. After a quarter of an hour they returned into Court, and the medical men informed His Honor that the prisoner was acryptorchid. The trial then proceeded.
