This day.
Mr Ballance leaves for Wellington this afternoon. A deputation from the Chamber of Commerce waited on him yesterday on the tariff and river improvements questions. He promised to inquire into the former, and regarding the latter he said that a party would be placed.on the river in three weeks t^ clear out the snags. A deputation from the Small Farmers' Association waited on him endeavouring to get the average acreage for allotments increased, but Mr Ballance refused to increase the average.
