DAEWIN
The manager reports for tho past week : —" The drive on the reef at No. 3 levd has holed through to the winze, but it is not squared up yet to the western side of the winze. It is 20ft. from the joint crosscut <o the bottom of the winze. Id breaking down the quartz here to-day colors of gold were seen in the hangingwall portion of the reef. In the stopes at No. 2 level, dabs and colors of gold are seen frequently in the quartz; there is also good mineral in the stone. Tbe'iiispection of the engine takes place on Thursday .-—H. W. Moose," CAMBKIA.
The manager reported yesterday as follows:—"As we have commenced to drife on the reeF eastward at N0..3 level, the reef opened out on the footwall side to considerable size—something like 20ft. in thickness. The footwall portion of it appears to be the best looking for gold, as some of it is carrying some nice mineral. There has noi been much head way made with it, on account of it being so large, but I purpose taking out about 6 or Bft. on the footwall portion, and bring up the remaining portion after thisis far enough, ahead. An intermediate drire has been commenced on the western side of the winze between Nos. 2 and 3 levels. In the stopes above No. 2 level there is little change to report. Gold is still being seen in the hangingwali portion of it all along the stopes, but as the most of the stuff was obtained from here for the last crashing, and which did not turn out as well as was expected, it will be advisable in the future to have ifc more carefully ■elected.—H. W. Moobe."
SAXON.
Ihe winze on No. 3-reef is now down a depth of about 60ft. The rise from No. 6 level, to connect with the winze being sunk from No. 5,. will probably hole through to-morrow. Cleaning up wili probably take about the end of the weak.
DEEP LEVEL GEOSS. 1
Gold continues to be seen in breaking down the reef in the stopes on No. 6 reef, which averages about 10. inches in thickness. Payable crushing dirt is also coming to handjrom the stopes on No. 2 reef.
NEW PEINOE IMPEEIAL.
The manager reports :—" The footwall branch of No. 2 leader, which is being worked on the western side of the break •bove No. 5 level, continues to look very promising, and gold has been seen freely through the stone during the past few few days. The No. 4 leader is also looking a little better in the stopes, and a few pounds of picked stone were obtained from it yesterday. Stoping on No. 1 reef cast and west of the break below No. 4 level is in progress as usual, but there is nothing freih to mention.—G. S. Class:."
THAMES GOLDEN CEOWN,
The work of excavating the chamber is proceeding, but the reef will probably re main in it for the whole length. In breaking down a portion of the reef today the manager secured a few pounds of picked stone. GOLD EETUBNS.
