Tauranga Election.
(fuom our own coerespondent.)
Paeboa This day.
Mr Sheehan met the electors at 9.30 last night in the School-house, Puriri. The attendance, considering the hour, was remarkably good. A hearty rote of thanks and confidence was proposed. Mr Crib, whose hostility to the candidate was apparent throughout the whole of the proceeding.', moved, as an amendment, that the candidate be thanked only; he said that while he admired his manly con duct in connection with the education question, he had otherwise serious objections to his candidature, believing, as he did, that he was the nominee of an Auckland ring. Mr Sheehaii replied that that was the most extraordinary objection that had been made to his candidature ; so far from being the nominee of an Auckland ring, it was that ring, and not Mr Kelly, that was opposing him. He would make Tery short work of a man like Mr Kelly, but the Tom Morrins and the National Bank were rather more difficult subjects to dispose of; however, he was not afraid of even the3e mighty men of Gath. The motion of confidence was passed, only four hands being held up in opposition. At an earlier hour of the evening, Mr Sheehan addressed a meeting at.Kicikiri, at which a unanimous rote of confidence was accorded. He arrived here about four o'clock this morning, acd leaves again, en route for Tauranga, at UQOU
